The Chi Recap:
*Brandon's character will not be returning due to alleged sexual allegations* Jerricka's character has the option to return, but she may not*

1. I'm glad Ronnie was freed from his internal prison, by finally confronting his biological dad. Also glad, his bio-dad apologized and hopefully they can move forward
2. Emmett needs a vasectomy STAT
3. I hope Kevin learned his lesson to not allow his friends' to decide who he should date. But I also understand the power of peer pressure...

4. Dudah, sacrificed Reg as a truce to the rival gang
5. I hope Jake doesn't get caught up in the street life, but I think that he will be groomed to take over 69 territory
6. Jerrika & Brandon were never going to work. They were both holding on to their upbringing rather than focusing on developing their "new normal"
7. Jerrika was steeped in respectability politics and the Black Elite bourgeoisie culture
8. Brandon didn't desire to be Bourgeois

9. Jada broke the cardinal rule: Never ever give your babydaddy the goods! Once it's over your vag should be dead to him
10. Kevin is torn between leaving his friends and bettering his future by attending the "good school"... That's a damn shame! That right there is systemic racism, capitalism, separatism, a whole lot of isms. All children should have equality in their education

Tynee Talks: The Waiting Room

Tynee Talks: The Waiting Room…

I have been going through a transition. I have all these great ideas and content roaming through my mind, but I am unsure. I am unsure about what my next moves should be. I call this phase the waiting room. I liken this phase to sitting in the waiting room for an appointment. For example, the doctor’s office, you know why you are there, but you are not fully aware of what is to come, once the doctor examines you. However, you do know some things. You know the behaviors that you were actively engaging in before this appointment. Were those behaviors conducive to the outcome that you are hoping for, once you get in front of the physician? Were you eating healthy? Were you exercising regularly? Were you drinking H20? Were you taking your medications properly? These questions, should give you some semblance of what is to come. Are you prepared for this appointment?

Let’s take it a step further. You are sitting in the waiting room, for a job interview. How did you prepare for this life-changing event? This interview will not only change your financial status, but this interview is the catalyst that will propel your family’s trajectory into the next level of success. How have you prepared for this interview? What were you doing prior, to entering that waiting room? Did you learn about the company? Did you stay abreast to the changes in that industry? Did you dress for the part? Not only did you look the part, but did you mentally prepare to handle this next level of responsibility? Did you greet the receptionist as you entered the room? Did you talk to God? Did you ask God to guide your footsteps and your path? Ask yourself: Are you prepared for this appointment? The waiting room is the interim place that stands between you and your victory. The waiting room is the place of peace for the one who prepared. Have you prepared for your appointment? If the answer is yes, Godspeed! If the answer is no, you still have time to prepare.

Tynee Talks: “Dying to be Liked” A Candid Conversation with Kellen Brandon

Tynee Talks: “Dying to be Liked” A Candid Conversation with Kellen Brandon

Pictured: Kellen Brandon CEO of Brandon Publishing
Photo Provided by: Kellen Brandon

On my latest podcast, episode 21 of Tynee Talks, I had the pleasure of talking with CEO of Brand Publishing, Kellen Brandon. Kellen and I discussed the pitfalls of popularity and the destructiveness of dying to be liked by people who are not the authors of your value. The top 5 takeaways:

  •       Popularity is defined by what those around you place value in. When you go against what is the norm, you may often feel ostracized.

  •        Seeking popularity will leave you searching for purpose, but if your purpose leads to popularity, continue to use that popularity for good.

  •        Purpose > is greater than popularity on any day!

  •        In order to find one’s purpose, it may strip you of your popularity and you realize that popularity isn’t in alignment with your true self

  •       Dying to be liked will KILL YOU! It may kill you figuratively or literally, but it will kill you or some aspect of you off!!

LaTashia Perry is a modern day renaissance woman. Some may even refer to her as a Virtuous woman. She is a wife, mother of 5, children's book author, Lactation Coach, hair stylist, fashion stylist, and entrepreneur. I'm not sure if she's actually Diana Prince, moonlighting as LaTashia, but it's safe to say that this woman is definitely a WONDER. Mrs. Perry is strong enough to bear the children and get back to business.

Listen to my latest Tynee talks Podcast interview with LaTashia as she talks about what prompted her to write a children's book series centered on the likeness of African-American children, her adventures raising five kids ranging from ages 20 months to 15 years old, and balancing a business, all while finding alone time with her high school sweetheart husband Virgil.

Tynee Talks: Kanye West is Trippin’ and I’m Mf’n Tied

Kanye West is Trippin’ and I’m Mf’n Tied

I’m tired of loving Kanye’ like the Mother that will not stop giving her crackhead son, another second chance! I’m tired of Kanye’ West living out the lyrics to his hit song, “All Falls Down.” My guy is literally falling down the into the now famous Sunken Place, a key pop-culture phrase, that's been adopted from Jordan Peele’s critically acclaimed movie, Get Out. I’ve been rockin’ with Ye’ since 2004. That's Fourteen damn years, and now I feel like the ni%*a done betrayed me like Bernadine’s husband in Waiting to Exhale and I want to burn his shit up!
Nevertheless, the ultimate betrayal did not take place when he got on and left my ass for a white girl *insert* (Kim K). He betrayed me when he took his Black ass on National Television and said “Slavery was a choice!” This Mf’er definitely crossed the line! I have made excuse after excuse as to why Ye’ out here wildin’ and no longer can, nor will I enable carelessness for yourself at the expense of our people and culture. I will not stand for you using your voice and privilege to demean the ancestors that allow us the live the life we are afforded today;just because you are about to drop an album or want to feel accepted by those in power. Not today, tomorrow, or the next day!

You once rapped in reference to the Civil Rights Movement:
“I get down for my grandfather who took my momma
Made her sit in that seat where white folks ain't want us to eat
At the tender age of 6 she was arrested for the sit in
And with that in my blood I was born to be different…”

Mr. West you are most certainly different; and I mean that in most incredulous way! What happened to that Kanye`? Your grandfather and your mother did not risk their lives, for you to be out here actin’ a whole fool. And I do mean a whole fool! I am now just like that Mother that finally realizes she cannot let her crackhead son back in the house because he stole her bill money and took her blood pressure medicine. I now have to love you from a distance and pray that you change your ways.
